Reviews
FAQ

1. Is Hampi the same place as Hosapete?

No. Hampi is the UNESCO World Heritage destination, while Hosapete, also written as Hospet, is the nearest major town and transport hub. Travellers commonly arrive at Hosapete and continue to Hampi by road.

2. Is Anegundi part of Hampi?

Anegundi is a historic settlement across the Tungabhadra River from Hampi. It predates the Vijayanagara capital and is associated with the Kishkindha region from the Ramayana. The tour covers selected Anegundi-side attractions separately from the main Hampi monument zone.

3. Why is Hampi a UNESCO World Heritage Site?

Hampi preserves the remains of the Vijayanagara capital, including temples, markets, royal enclosures, water systems, gateways and stables spread across a dramatic boulder landscape. The site is recognised for its historical, architectural and cultural importance.

4. How much walking is required during the Hampi sightseeing day?

Travellers should expect several hours of walking with breaks because the monuments are spread across a large heritage zone. The exact walking distance depends on vehicle access, monument restrictions, crowd levels and the sightseeing sequence.

5. How difficult is the Anjanadri Hill climb?

The climb involves a long staircase with several hundred steps. It is manageable for many travellers with normal fitness, but it can feel tiring in hot or humid weather. Travellers should climb at their own pace and carry sufficient water.

6. Is sunset from Anjanadri Hill guaranteed?

No. Sunset visibility depends on cloud cover, weather, crowd movement, traffic and the time taken at earlier attractions. The trip captain may shorten or modify the hill visit when conditions make the climb unsafe or impractical.

7. Is a professional archaeological guide included?

A TrekHievers trip captain accompanies the group, but a licensed archaeological or monument guide should not be assumed unless it is specifically listed for the selected batch. Travellers wanting detailed historical interpretation should confirm guide availability before booking.

8. How does the group travel between Hampi monuments?

Surface transfers may be arranged through private autos or another suitable local vehicle according to the itinerary, road access and group size. Some monument areas still require walking because vehicles cannot enter every part of the protected heritage zone.

9. Is the complete itinerary accessible to wheelchair users?

Not every monument, hill or pathway is fully wheelchair accessible. Uneven stone surfaces, steps, slopes and restricted vehicle access can make some locations difficult. Travellers with mobility requirements should discuss the route with TrekHievers before booking.

10. Are wheelchairs available at Hampi?

Wheelchair availability is not guaranteed as part of the package. Travellers requiring mobility assistance should arrange it in advance and confirm whether the selected monuments and local vehicles can accommodate the equipment.

11. Is photography allowed inside Hampi monuments?

Personal photography is generally allowed in many outdoor monument areas, but restrictions may apply inside active temples, protected structures or ticketed zones. Travellers must follow archaeological, temple and local-authority instructions.

12. Can I use a tripod or professional camera at Hampi?

Tripods, commercial shoots and professional equipment may require separate permission or fees. Ordinary travel photography should not be treated as permission for commercial production.

13. Can tourists fly drones over Hampi?

Do not fly a drone without written permission from the relevant aviation, archaeological and local authorities. Hampi is a protected World Heritage property, and unauthorised drone use may result in penalties.

14. Can visitors touch the musical pillars or move the Stone Chariot wheels?

No. Visitors should not strike, tap, climb on or physically interfere with protected monuments. The musical pillars, Stone Chariot and other structures must be viewed without damaging them.

15. Is Virupaksha Temple still an active temple?

Yes. Virupaksha Temple remains an active place of worship as well as an important heritage attraction. Visitors should behave respectfully and follow instructions during religious ceremonies.

16. Is there a dress code for Virupaksha Temple?

Modest clothing covering the shoulders and knees is recommended. Temple authorities may restrict inappropriate clothing, photography or entry into particular areas.

17. Do visitors need to remove footwear at Hampi temples?

Footwear must be removed before entering active temple areas where required. Wear footwear that is easy to remove and consider carrying socks if the stone flooring is hot.

18. Are washrooms available near Hampi monuments?

Basic public washrooms are available near some major parking areas, ticket counters and tourist facilities, but they are not available beside every monument. Travellers should use the facilities whenever the group stops at a reliable location.

19. Is mobile network and UPI payment reliable in Hampi?

Mobile coverage and UPI payments usually work around Hosapete and the main tourist areas, but connectivity may become inconsistent near hills, lakes and remote ruins. Carry some cash and save important details offline.

20. Can vegetarian or Jain food be arranged?

Vegetarian food is widely available. Jain food should be requested while booking so the team can coordinate with the hotel or restaurant. Special dietary requests remain subject to availability.

21. Where will luggage be kept after hotel checkout?

Large luggage is generally kept in the tour vehicle, hotel storage area or another arrangement communicated by the trip captain. Travellers should carry valuables, medicines and identification in a small day bag.

22. Can couples request a private room?

A couple-room option may be available at an additional charge and is subject to hotel inventory. Couples should confirm the private-room option before completing the booking.

23. Is the tour suitable for children and senior citizens?

Suitability depends on the traveller’s health, mobility and comfort with overnight journeys, long sightseeing hours, heat and uneven surfaces. Children require adult supervision, while senior citizens should review the walking and hill climb before booking.

24. Can solo women travellers join the Hampi group tour?

Yes. Solo women can join the fixed-departure group. Room sharing is arranged according to the selected package and availability. Final pickup details, room allocation and the trip captain’s contact information should be confirmed before departure.

25. Can I join from Hosapete Railway Station or arrange a private group tour?

A Hosapete joining point or private customised departure may be possible only after written confirmation from TrekHievers. Private-trip pricing depends on group size, departure city, vehicle, room category, meals and the selected sightseeing plan.
