Bejeweled at Chandranath parvat, Tungnath is also ornamented as the highest temple in the series of Panch Kedar temples of Uttarakhand. Seizing third place in the striking sequences of the Panch Kedars, it is the Tritiya Kedar perched at a height of 3,680 meters. Sage Vyas Rashi opined Pandavas had to satisfy and persuade Lord Shiva in order to wash their sins away as they were holding the guilt of slaughtering their own cousins i.e. Kauravas. To convince Lord Shiva, Pandavas built the temple.
