Overview
  • Dandeli is a small town located in the western Indian state of Karnataka, known for its natural beauty and adventure activities. The town is surrounded by dense forests, hills, and the Kali river, offering an ideal destination for nature lovers and adventure enthusiasts alike.
  • Some of the popular activities to do in Dandeli include white water rafting, kayaking, jungle safaris, camping, bird watching, and trekking. Visitors can also explore the ancient temples and historical landmarks in the nearby areas.
  • The best time to visit Dandeli is between October and May, as the weather is pleasant and suitable for outdoor activities. The town has a range of accommodation options, including resorts, homestays, and campsites, catering to different preferences and budgets.
  • Overall, Dandeli is a perfect destination for those seeking a break from the hustle and bustle of city life and wanting to explore the beauty of nature while indulging in some adventure activities.
  • Gokarna: With its pristine beaches and breathtaking landscapes, Gokarna is a Hindu pilgrimage town in Karnataka and a newly found hub for beach lovers and hippies. Situated on the coast of Karwar, every year Gokarna welcomes hordes of tourists from around the world in search of sanctity and relaxation. The out-of-town beaches like Kudle beach and Om Beach are a different contrast to life inside the town.
  • Palm-clad beaches are dotted with foreign tourists in the majority, and very few Indians are seen across. Gokarna is not very conventionally touristy. The beaches are meant for a slow, relaxed holiday and everything on the beach goes at the same relaxed pace. Full of coconut and palm trees, the ocean, and clean sands, Gokarna is one of a kind in the country

What makes this tour special?

  • Dandeli: river adventure in the Western Ghats: Dandeli is an adventure and forest destination situated around the Kali River in Uttara Kannada, Karnataka. It is surrounded by dense greenery and is best known for river-based activities and outdoor experiences.
  • White-water rafting in Dandeli: White-water rafting is Dandeli’s signature adventure experience. The Kali River has sections suitable for guided rafting under trained operators.
  • Yana: a dramatic forest and rock experience: Yana is located inside the forest landscape of Uttara Kannada.

The destination is famous for two towering black limestone formations:

  • Bhairaveshwara Shikhara
  • Mohini Shikhara

The formations rise dramatically above the surrounding vegetation and create one of Karnataka’s most unusual natural landscapes.

Reaching the primary formations generally involves a short forest walk with steps and uneven ground.

Yana adds a completely different experience between Dandeli’s river adventure and Gokarna’s coastline.

  • Gokarna: spirituality beside the Arabian Sea: Gokarna is both an important temple town and a popular coastal destination. The town is centred around Mahabaleshwar Temple, while the surrounding coastline attracts travellers seeking beaches, cafés, coastal walks and sunsets.
  • Om Beach: Om Beach is known for its curved coastline resembling the sacred Om symbol. It combines rocky headlands, cafés, sea views and sunset opportunities.
  • Kudle Beach: Kudle Beach has a longer sandy coastline and a relaxed atmosphere. It is popular for evening walks, cafés, group photographs and sunsets.
  • Mahabaleshwar Temple: Mahabaleshwar Temple is one of Gokarna’s main religious landmarks. Visitors should wear modest clothing, remove footwear wherever required and follow current temple instructions. Avoid publishing rigid gender-specific clothing rules unless they are confirmed directly by the temple for the selected date.
  • Honnavar: backwaters and mangroves: Honnavar offers a peaceful contrast to Dandeli’s adventure and Gokarna’s open beaches. Its landscape is shaped by the Sharavathi River, backwaters, estuaries, mangroves and the nearby coastline.
  • Murudeshwar: a coastal temple landscape: Murudeshwar is one of Karnataka’s best-known coastal pilgrimage destinations.

The temple complex stands beside the Arabian Sea and is known for:

  • Murudeshwar Temple
  • Large Shiva statue
  • Raja Gopura
  • Murudeshwar Beach
  • Coastal viewpoints
  • Temple architecture
  • Arabian Sea photography

The combination of spirituality, architecture and open-sea scenery makes Murudeshwar a memorable conclusion to the journey.
